When Office Politics Sucks

When you are good at doing something, there are those around you who may try to pull you down by spreading lies and malicious insinuations about you with an intention to bloat their credibility and usability in the office.

During summer classes (March to May) I taught a total of 21 units, the highest number of teaching-load hours per week given to a lecturer in our school.

From Monday to Friday both mornings and afternoons, I had teaching classes, so normally I don't stay in the office because either I was in the classroom teaching or in the library reading something.

My students rated my teaching performance with excellent points. I know that I am imparting knowledge and wisdom to my students more than they could expect from a teacher. I am confident that my students are my best witness to the quality of my work.

Today I am really disappointed, and while I was at the canteen, I felt like crying thinking of my earlier conversation with the school owner.

People at the office complained to the school owner that they couldn't find me at the lecturer's room. How could they find me when I am teaching the whole day? And why would they bring up such totally non-sense talk to the school owner? If only they knew how hard I work.

It's totally ridiculous and absurd that those who are either doing nothing or doing less but receiving handsome amount of salary would concoct such preposterous accusation against me.

Though I am the lowest paid teacher, I have been given the most teaching loads - but I don't complain about it. What gives me joy in my work is that I love teaching and my students are gaining valuable knowledge from me.

Office politics sucks. There are bad people who are out to destroy you when you are good at what you are doing. And the only way they could pull you down is by spreading totally non-sense stories about you.

As I was walking to the school building from the canteen, I prayed to the Lord Jesus, telling Him how disappointed and hurt I am.

I was crying inside. I wanted to confront those purveyors of lies, but I realized that doing so would only create unnecessary office tension, which I don't want to happen.

God is just, I believe. God said that those who are humble will be lifted up in His time.

Office politics sucks, but our God is faithful. Before I typed this blog post I prayed to the Lord again, entrusting him my life and my future in an uncertain environment where I live in.
