One of Google's most important decisions was when it bought Blogger or Blogspot, a blog platform that was once on the brink of kissing the Internet goodbye. Google knew beforehand that there was money in Blogspot sites so it did not hesitate to acquire Blogger.
Today a blogspot site can earn instant cash through Google Adsense by simply adding Adsense Ad functionality in Blogspot Dashboard. This blogspot website, a partnership with webhostingreality.com, is powered by Google's Blogger. I have other blogs and websites with specific niches hosted in three other webhosts. I am a proactive man. My mind keeps on entertaining the "what if" question. What if Blogspot will be closed by Google? Hope not.
Wordpress could have been a good choice but you cannot place Google Adsense ads in a free Wordpress blog site (blogname.wordpress.com). Thousands of free Wordpress blogs have been shutdown for violating the Wordpress policy of no-ads. So blogspot stands better than Wordpress, if you plan to place Google ads in your site.
Here comes a not-so-remote possibility: what if Google bids to buy Wordpress? What will happen to Blogger's Blogspot? If you own a free Wordpress, that would be a good news since you would then be able to place Google Adsense in Wordpress. Remember that Google bought Feedburner, Postini, Picasa, Double Click, and many other big companies.
Will Google Buy Wordpress Blog Platform? What is your forecast? Friends at BlueHost won't be happy, maybe.
